This report followed SSJ’s field visit to Syria in July 2025, documenting the experiences of survivors of the Extermination Prisons and SSJ’s efforts to preserve testimonies and support survivor-centred recovery.
Through the perspective of Yayoi Yamazaki, who has lived and worked in Syria for more than twenty years, the programme offered a rare and nuanced portrait of contemporary Syria and the challenges faced by survivors and their communities.
